A NEW ROOM. A LITTLE LESS GUESSWORK.

Your next room,

A suitcase can fit on the floor and still block your chair.

A LITTLE ROOM FOR ERROR

What if your sizes are slightly off?

Try a smaller room and slightly larger items, keeping their positions. See which checks return.

What this scenario checks

Subtract the chosen amount from each room dimension; add it to each item’s width and depth and positive extra-use-space amount. Positions, rotation, and door dimensions stay entered. The door area follows the bottom wall. Zero use space stays zero. This is one size scenario; it does not check every possible error, walking routes, or safety.

ONE PLAN TO TAKE WITH YOU

Make room. Then make your list.

Choose what to bring, and keep the checks with your plan.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE

Check the sizes behind your plan.

Room and packing-list measurements

“Checked by you” records your confirmation. Also check furniture positions, door space, and outlet markers in the actual room. Sizes alone do not confirm the whole layout.

Fits closed isn’t the whole story.

Dashed spaces show the extra room you enter for opening a suitcase, pulling out a chair, or using a drawer. Two use spaces can share the floor if you use them at different times.

YOUR ENTERED MEASUREMENTS

Edit this item

Measure the additional floor space beyond the closed item.

Which sizes have you checked?

Check each box only after checking that value yourself. Editing a value clears its previous confirmation.

Position and rotation
MAKE IT YOUR ROOM

Start with the room size.

Use inside-wall measurements. Then edit the bed, desk, and other furniture already there.

Which room sizes have you checked?

Room confirmation does not confirm the furniture sizes.

Door and outlet positions

Orient your sketch with the door on the bottom edge of the top view.

Outlet markers

Markers on a changed wall edge follow that edge when you resize the room. Review their positions. Cord reach and electrical use aren’t checked.

THINKING OF BRINGING

What would you like to try?

These starting sizes are examples. Replace them with your measurements.

SAME ROOM. A DIFFERENT SIZE.

What if you brought another one?

Compare your current item with another size. Other furniture stays where it is. Suggested moves come from a limited search.

TRY THE IDEA IN FOUR STEPS

Fits on the floor. Can you use it?

Independent fictional examples. Your personal plan stays as it is.

Rectangular floor and use-space checks. Measure the real room and test it in person.

Space to put it.
Space to use it.

An item’s footprint is the space it occupies when closed. A dashed use area is the additional floor space you enter for opening or using it.

DormFit checks furniture overlaps, room edges, items blocking use areas, and the door’s reserved area. Two use areas can overlap because the activities can happen at different times.

Placement and size comparisons check a finite grid and four orientations, holding other objects in place. A search can miss a possible arrangement and doesn’t prove the best layout. Different sizes can use different search grids.

Room view is an illustration with assumed heights. The checks use 2D rectangles, not heights, exact hinges, walking routes, safety, accessibility, or cord reach. Example dimensions aren’t a measured dorm. Verify your plan before packing.

“Bring it” records your own choice; it isn’t a fit approval. Plans save in this browser and can be downloaded as files. No account or runtime AI service is used.
